Canvassing with Peter Ferguson

Location: Wharncliffe Road South at Byron Ave (Robert Q/Tim Horton parking lot)

We will be getting together Saturday, July 31 at 11 am to deliver flyers for Peter's campaign. We will meet in the parking lot of the Tim Horton's/Robert Q on Wharncliffe Road South.

Peter and those who are interested, will door knock in the area. We will also do some streets with just drops. So whatever you prefer. The time commitment is up to you.

Peter will also be doing canvassing on other days, so please let us know if you'd like to go door-knocking with Peter.

NDP demands immediate reversal of Special Diet cut

London West NDP joins with NDP Poverty Critic Michael Prue who is continuing his fight to have the McGuinty Liberals reverse their decision to eliminate the Special Diet Allowance.

Mathyssen Obtains Tax Relief for Veteran's Legion

LONDON – The Duchess of Kent Legion (Branch 263, Royal Canadian Legion) has finally received a GST tax break as of July 2nd, 2010, following nearly four years of work by NDP MP Irene Mathyssen. After a former employee embezzled tens of thousands of dollars in GST and PST remittances, the Legion was stuck with a massive tax debt. With interest and penalties accruing, the Legion owed the federal and provincial governments a total of $279 602 at the beginning of 2010. Read more»

Dearness Home Seniors Program Funding Announced

London-Members of the community gathered today to celebrate as the Dearness Home announced it receipt of a $25,000 federal funding grant for its Arts for all Ages project from Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.

Member of Parliament Irene Mathyssen (NDP, London-Fanshawe), advised Dearness staff about this opportunity and advocated for the application’s approval. She participated in the announcement today, saying the grant will be a good investment not only in the quality of life for Dearness Home residents, but also for the youth of the community. McGuinty HST "strong medicine" a bitter pill for Ontario says NDP

Queen’s Park – Dalton McGuinty’s televised HST sales pitch is a desperate, last-ditch effort that will only strengthen Ontarians’ opposition to the wrong-headed new tax, NDP finance critic Peter Tabuns said today.
